Our Family Promise

MacDangDang is our family’s private space. These are the things it will always do, and never do, with what we share here.

What we promise

• No ads, ever. There are no ads and no advertising or tracking scripts in the app.
• Never sold. Nobody’s information, photos, or stories are sold or traded to anyone.
• Nothing is public. Only invited family members can get in. Photos and videos are stored privately and shown through links that expire.
• No AI training on our family. When someone asks Family AI for help, the request only goes to AI services that do not train on what we send.
• AI only writes drafts. Anything Family AI writes is marked “AI draft”, and nothing is posted until a person checks it and chooses to post it.
• AI sees words, never pictures. Family AI never sees photos or videos. It sees what you type. In the Family AI hub it also sees recent post captions and the names of upcoming events, trips and lists, so its suggestions fit the family.
• Kids’ names held back. Our kids’ names are taken out of the family list that Family AI is given. A caption that names a child is still sent as written, so leave the name out of the caption if you’d rather.
• Your copy, any time. Ask for a copy of your photos and posts, or ask us to delete them, by emailing privacy@macdangdang.com.

Who helps us run it

A few services do the behind-the-scenes work. Each one only gets what it needs for its job:

• Vercel runs the website and passes Family AI requests on.
• OpenAI writes Family AI drafts, through Vercel.
• Supabase keeps accounts, posts, and photos.
• Mux plays videos.
• Resend sends emails, and Twilio sends texts to people who turn texts on.
